Notes:
Talk about finding wines off the beaten path, Robert Oatley Vineyards is based in Mudgee, one of Australia’s oldest winegrowing regions. Don't worry if you've never heard of Mudgee, we hadn't either but with names like the Wooloomooloo Vineyards, we might take a trip very soon! Situated on the northwest slopes of the Great Dividing Range, adjacent to the picturesque Blue Mountains, Mudgee falls within the wine zone of New South Wales, which is in turn part of South Eastern Australia.
Located a three-and-a-half hour drive north-west of Sydney, Mudgee has a burgeoning wine tourism industry, based mostly around boutique wineries. At 1,100 feet, they are considerably cooler than Hunter Valley, the best-known wine region in New South Wales, and as Bottle King found, are full of hidden gems.
Reviews:
"This wine shows deep ruby color, along with forward plum and berry aromas. On the palate this Shiraz is generous in the mouth and the red berry fruits give way to nutmeg, mocha and dark chocolate notes, with rounded tannins and a firm finish." Wine Buyer Best Buy
