Our favorite under $20 Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon, the Pendulum 2019 is once again a Wine Spectator Smart Buy! Full-bodied without being too boozy, Pendulum first hit our radar back in 2014 with a new discoveries article on winemaker Josh Freeman and the Columbia Valley. Sourced from some of the best vineyards in Washington: Browne Family, Blackrock, Mirage, Skyfall, and Canyon Vineyard Ranch, Freeman ages the wine 11 months in 30% new French Oak. Loaded with notes of ripe blueberries, black plum and baking spices, there are pronounced flavors of black cherry and toasty oak. If this was made in Napa Valley instead of Washington State, it would easily be in the $50 range.
