The Rare Le Pinot Noir Volcanique is a unique expression of Pinot Noir from the volcanic region of Puy de Dome, which lies in the central French region of Auvergne. Auvergne was historically a large wine producing region in France, before Phylloxera decimated the vineyards of Europe. It was at one point the third largest wine producing region in France, with the Allier river serving as a route north to Paris. Considered an extension of the Loire Valley, the Rare Le Pinot Noir Volcanique has classic notes of cherry, cut flowers, and red fruit but also deeper spicy notes, pepper and chocolate. There is a freshness here, distinctive to the region, bright and dry, framed by rocks and minerals of the volcanic terrior. Don't miss our special Wine of the Month price drop to $10.99 a bottle!
"Shows excellent French Pinot character with precision and purity. Crisp with great tension and bright black cherry fruit. The persistent finish carries hints of earthy spices from its volcanic roots. The Lively mouthfeel makes this a great companion for a wide range of food." The Wine Buyer, 91 Points
